We are developing a renewable energy water storage based on Zero Terrain technology in Paldiski. The Zero Terrain technology enables the construction of large-scale water storage in areas where it was previously not possible due to flat ground. The Zero Terrain technology we are developing is also the most environmentally friendly option among the possible alternatives.
Key indicators:
  • Capacity - 500 MW.
  • Over a nominal 12-hour operating cycle, Energiasalv will deliver 6 million kWh of previously stored electricity to the grid, which is slightly more than the average daily electricity consumption of all households in Estonia.
  • Zero Terrain water storage requires little land use, making it an efficient CO2 emission reducer - each megawatt-hour produced by Paldiski water storage saves 450 kg of CO2. The use of a local natural resource, gneiss (building blocks of crystalline bedrock), reduces pressure on land use and the environment, including CO2 emissions associated with building materials.
  • Brings around €1.7 billion of investment to Estonia.
  • During construction, the Energiasalve project will create an average of 761 jobs per year.
  • Target 2032.
