Alexela operates in three areas: energy, the metal industry and property development. Our strategic projects for the coming years are the development of an LNG terminal in Paldiski, increasing the use of liquid gas as vehicle fuel and increasing the volumes of electricity generation and shale oil production.

Alexela is a constantly growing and developing company. Excellent customer service as well as providing quality products and services to our clients is extremely important to us. We work very hard to achieve this. We also give a lot of attention to nature conservation and proceed from the principles of social responsibility.

We wouldn’t have made it to the top without our dedicated staff. The company that manages to hire the most talented and committed people in the area – employees who create important added value for the company and give it a competitive advantage – is the one that survives in tough competitive conditions.

Alexela today´s total turnover amount is over 200 million Euro. The group employs more than 1000 people most of whom work outside of Tallinn in Ida-Viru County: in Kiviõli 600 and Sillamäe 135 employees, in Paldiski, Harju County, we are one of the biggest employers with 130 employees.

We are the pioneers of green energy, developing a sustainable network of service stations through vigorous creation of biomethane, LNG, electricity and, in the near future, hydrogen filling up facilities. Alexela produces biomethane based on the circular economy principle, builds solar parks and wind farms, as well as develops and manages an LNG terminal in Hamina, Finland. In addition, the company together with its partners is developing a renewable pumped-storage hydropower facility in Paldiski called Energiasalv, which will solve the challenge of large-scale storage of renewable energy and pave the way for the triumph of clean energy, thus ensuring additional energy security for Estonia.
Alexela is also an energy department store, selling a unique selection of electrical energy, natural gas, cylinder and container gas, as well as car fuels in its more than 100 service stations across Estonia, along with 39 convenience stores.
The steadily growing six-digit number of customers, increase in customer loyalty and spontaneous recognition of 83% show that we have found a way into the hearts and everyday lives of Estonian people and businesses. We operate on the principle of sustainability, which has led us to be among the best in Estonia in our fields of activity. According to the results of the Sustainable Brand Index study published at the end of March 2022, we were the most sustainable company in the eyes of Estonian consumers in our field for the second year - a great recognition for us. Alexela's goal is to become carbon neutral by 2030 at the latest by developing the circular economy, contributing to energy security and initiating projects that actually reduce our carbon footprint.

The quality of Alexela's metal industry, be it in the form of trailers, hot-dip galvanizing service or metal structure production, is highly valued both here and elsewhere. As much as 90% of our output is exported. In the activities of our metal industry, respect for own employees, customers and the environment is clearly the first priority. All our companies comply with the ISO and OHSAS standards.

Our ambition in the field of oil shale chemistry is to become a circular economy business by 2026.  As a green innovator, we add value to oil shale using innovative technologies. We want to become carbon neutral by 2050 at the latest by developing the circular economy, contributing to energy security and initiating projects that actually reduce our carbon footprint. As a company with 100 years of experience and comprehensive know-how in the field of oil shale mining and valorization, we have entered the era of green revolution accompanied by major changes for the entire oil shale sector. We aim to solve this challenge on a sustainable basis, so that:

  • Jobs in Ida-Virumaa are preserved and the region's reputation as an employer grows
  • The unique know-how of the oil shale sector and the mining industry is preserved and developed
  • We continue to develop projects for better valorization of oil shale
  • We look for ways to operate according to the circular economy principle
  • We operate profitably
